Organization among honorees following groundbreaking year focused on equity, diversity and inclusion

TAMPA, Fla. – Front Office Sports announced on Tuesday the United Soccer League had been selected to the Front Office Sports’ 2021 List of Best Employers in Sports, Presented by FEVO. Established in 2019, the Best Employers in Sports Award recognizes organizations across the sports industry that are doing the best for their employees.

“We are honored to be recognized by Front Office Sports as one of the best employers in the sports industry,” said Rachel Bukszar, USL’s Vice President of People. “What makes this award even more meaningful is that we were chosen based on reviews from our own employees, as it is the individuals within an organization that help build a strong culture. As we continue to evolve and grow as a league, it will be our people who define us and with recognition like this we hope to remain a top employer of choice and continue to attract and retain the best talent in the industry.”

The USL has undertaken a major drive on equity, diversity and inclusion, with the formation of the USL Impact and IDEA HQ Committees, with the goal of working across the league office and clubs to identify issues, provide recommendations on how to better address areas of social impact, and use soccer as a force for good. In April of 2021, the league launched the United Against commitment, an organization-wide initiative inclusive of all Black, Indigenous, Latinx, AAPI, people of color, and any other community experiencing racism (BIPOC), as well as the Forever Proud Project, which aims to create opportunities and promote LGBTQ+ inclusivity across all USL communities. In addition to these initiatives, the USL instituted Impact Days, a paid day off for each employee to use once a year to participate in a social cause of choosing.

The USL was one of 30 organizations selected among the 200 that were participants in the survey. To view the 2021 Best Employers in Sports Award winners, click here
