Accomplished Multimedia Storyteller to Lead Publicity Initiatives Across All USL Properties

TAMPA, Fla. – The United Soccer League today announced Will Kuhns as its Senior Vice President of Communications and Public Relations. As a member of USL’s executive team, Kuhns will provide strategic support across all properties and departments during a tremendous growth phase for the organization. Kuhns will draw upon his experience in the soccer industry, communications, journalism, video production and content strategy.

“We are pleased to welcome Will Kuhns to our leadership team as we enter an exciting chapter of USL’s story,” said USL President Jake Edwards. “Will’s experience and reputation in American soccer are extraordinary and we anticipate increased visibility for all our leagues under his leadership.”

Kuhns began his career as a print journalist and editor at publications such as The Washington Post and Soccer America. He spent most of 2005 reporting and writing from Buenos Aires, Argentina as part of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. In 2006 he joined Major League Soccer where he split nearly 15 years between its communications and content divisions, crafting, coordinating and amplifying those efforts across all clubs. Most recently, as a consultant, Kuhns led communications at Austin FC for two months of the club’s inaugural season, including its first seven MLS home games, multiple international events, and player, partner and community announcements.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to continue growing with the sport I love most,” said Kuhns. “Through soccer, the USL is bringing together hundreds of communities across the entire country and growing rapidly. The positive momentum of local soccer is infectious, inspiring and full of great, human stories. I am extremely grateful for this chance to help everyone connected to USL and its clubs achieve even more remarkable things.”

In this new role, Kuhns will build and maintain productive relationships with national, local and international media outlets, create and execute communications initiatives and manage the USL PR group. He will develop narratives to promote USL and its member clubs.
