USL Partners with Kicks to the Pitch for New Spanish-Language Show

Organization teams up with Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand on series to highlight LatinX culture across the Championship

The United Soccer League announced today the launch of a partnership with Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand Kicks to the Pitch to create a new Spanish-language content series – Para Nosotros, Por Nosotros – that will air throughout the 2021 USL Championship season.

The short-form video series will highlight LatinX culture both on and off the field in select cities across the Championship while shining a new light on community culture including street soccer, music, food, architecture, and fashion.

“We're big supporters of Kicks to the Pitch and have been interested in working with them for a long time,” said USL Senior Vice President of Community Ryan Madden. “So when we decided to launch a Spanish language content series it just made sense to see what we could create together. It’s exciting and we can’t wait to see it come to life.”

“When USL reached out to us we were excited,” said Kicks to the Pitch Vice President Giovanni Flores. “We feel that USL is intricate in growing the beautiful game in America. Telling stories from a perspective that are authentic is extremely important. We have a very diverse team at kicks to the pitch. Which is something that soccer does. It brings people together.”

The series will be fronted by a duo of hosts, with Denise Jones and Mando Fresko set to guide the stories and conversation. Kicks to the Pitch’s resident unboxing host, Jones brings a background in sports and entertainment that has seen her work at Los Angeles’ largest Hip Hop station, Power 106, and as the sideline reporter for Lakers Nation.

An award-winning DJ and former host on MTV’s Tr3s and MTV2, Fresko is a native of Los Angeles who now runs his own production company, Hubwav Media, which has collaborated with Nike, Facebook, The Grammys, Pepsi and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. Awarded the Key to the City of Los Angeles in 2019, Fresko began DJing when he was 14 and has remained ingrained in LatinX culture and all that surrounds it throughout his career.

Each episode of the series will focus on a different aspect of LatinX culture, visiting cities and telling the stories of Championship clubs, communities and players while highlighting unique aspects of local culture and its connection to the game.


La United Soccer League anunció hoy el lanzamiento de una colaboración de con la marca basada en Los ángeles, Kicks to the Pitch para crear una serie de contenido completamente en español – Para Nosotros, Por Nosotros – la cual será transmitida durante la temporada del campeonato de la USL del 2021.

La serie de contenido destacará la cultura Latinx dentro y fuera del terreno en varias ciudades del campeonato y a la vez, se enfocará en la comunidad y su cultura la cual incluye el fútbol callejero, música, gastronomía, arquitectura y moda.

“Antes de que nos uniéramos a nuestros socios Kicks to the Pitch, nosotros éramos sus fanáticos,” dijo el vicepresidente ejecutivo Ryan Madden. “Así que cuando decidimos invertir en contenido en español, hacia sentido explorar lo que pudiéramos crear juntos. Estamos emocionados de compartir la serie con nuestros aficionados durante estos meses.”

En el 2019, Fresko fue galardonado con la llave de la ciudad de Los ángeles y comenzó su carrera como DJ a los 14 años. Este se ha mantenido como una figura notable en la cultura Latinx durante su carrera.

Cada episodio de la serie se enfocará en un aspecto distinto de la cultura Latinx, visitando ciudades y contando las historias de los equipos, comunidades y los jugadores mientras resaltan los aspectos de la cultura local y su conexión al deporte.
