Forward Madison returns home for its first match at Hart Park more than a month this Saturday, taking on Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in a lunchtime clash. The Flamingos came back to Wisconsin with three points from a three-game road trip, leaving them seven points off the playoffs with seven matches left to play in the USL League One season.

In that sense, it’s now or never for Forward Madison. In facing second-place Chattanooga, the Flamingos face falling 10 points behind with a defeat, but conversely, could climb to just four points back with a win.

FMFC missed its chance to pick up a result earlier this week, losing 2-1 to FC Tucson despite recording 18 more shots than their opponents. With only two days of rest before Saturday’s game, Head Coach Daryl Shore will have a tricky task on his hands in assessing which of his players are ready to go.

No matter which personnel takes the field, though, Forward fans will have reason to be excited about more than just the soccer at Hart Park. The club’s new Tropical Goalkeeper Kit, which was revealed on Friday, will make its debut during Saturday’s game. In order to avoid clashing with its blue-and-green color scheme, FMFC will wear its white away jerseys during a home game for the first time ever.

Soccer isn’t generally a game for superstition, but Flamingos may well hope their new kit is a lucky charm against Chattanooga, which enters Saturday’s match in excellent form. The Red Wolves have won three of their past four games, mounting a charge to second place in the league table.

Chattanooga’s strong performances have been led by Scottish striker Greg Hurst’s five goals, the third-most in USL League One.

Still, Forward Madison has been good at home, compiling an undefeated record at Hart Park so far. Likewise, the Red Wolves have struggled on the road, and are only 1-1-3 in away games.

If the Flamingos can manage to beat the Red Wolves, it would be their first win over Chattanooga in club history. Forward Madison lost once and drew twice against Saturday’s opponents in 2019.

Following Saturday’s match, Forward Madison will continue its three-game homestand as the Flamingos take on FC Tucson on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at Hart Park.
