Tormenta strikes late to earn draw in Orlando

Eckenrode's late goal preserved Tormenta's undefeated start to the season, while Orlando City B earned its first point of the season.

ORLANDO CITY B (1) VS TORMENTA FC (1)

MONTVERDE, Fla. – Lars Eckenrode’s header in the 94th minute helped Tormenta FC earn a 1-1 draw with Orlando City B at Montverde Academy Sunday afternoon. The two sides traded chances throughout the first half with neither able to break through. Fifteen minutes into the second half, the OCB attack unlocked the Tormenta defense and got themselves in behind with a long ball over the top. Thiago Souza received the cross-field pass on the right flank and took a positive first touch towards the end line before cutting the ball back to William Bagrou near the penalty spot. Bagrou held off his defender and laid the ball off to Antes Diouf who calmly finished at the back post to give OCB its first lead of the season. On the other side, Tormenta found themselves trailing for the first time in 2019. After much probing, the visitors finally found an equalizer from a free kick in the 94th minute. Marco Micaletto served the free kick into a good area forcing goalkeeper Juliano Chade off his line. Eckerode beat Chade to the ball and headed it home to preserve a point and Tormenta’s undefeated start to the season.
