United Soccer Leagues announced today the schedule for the second annual W-League Combine. Accordingly, USLSoccer.com sat down with W-League Director, Melanie Fitzgerald to discuss the combine schedule, her thoughts on the 2008 W-League Combine and the additions to the W-League Combine Coaching staff.

The 2008 W-League Combine was successful in moving 35 players who attended the combine into WPS drafts. The expansion of WPS into Philadelphia (Independence) and Atlanta (Beat) for the 2010 season will likely play a role in increasing the number of W-League alumnae in WPS.

United Soccer Leagues announced Friday that it has begun accepting applications to the W-League Combine from players with experience outside the W-League. With 65 players already commited, the league will cap the number of participants at 90.

United Soccer Leagues announced today the first 30 players who have accepted invitations to the 2009 USL W-League Combine, being held Thursday, September 24 through Sunday, September 27 at Ed Radice Sports Complex in Northwest Tampa, Florida. Highlighting the list of players is midfielder Jesstine Wolfe and forwards Kate Watson and Brittany Tegeler of the Washington Freedom’s starting 11 from their recent appearance in the W-League finals.
 

As many W-League players are returning to their respective NCAA schools in preparation for their upcoming season, three members of the Ottawa Fury's W-League squad will continue training throughout August for the upcoming W-League Combine in Tampa, Florida.
