CARY, NC -- The Carolina RailHawks defeated the Brooklyn Knights of the PDL on Tuesday night 1-0 with a late goal by Kupono Low on a free kick in the 85th minute. The match was the first round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, one of the oldest tournaments of its kind in the world.
The RailHawks await the winner of the Real Maryland-NY Pancyprian Freedoms match, which has been postponed due to inclement weather, to see who they will host in the second round on June 24th at WakeMed Soccer Park.
Carolina outshot the visitors 10-6 on the night, but Brooklyn netminder Elvir Prasovic was only called upon to make one save. Carolina goalkeeper Chris McClellan made two.
