Umbro, one of the world’s leading international brands of soccer uniforms, footwear, equipment and soccer-related apparel, is the proud sponsor and official equipment supplier of United Soccer Leagues.
Founded in 1924, Umbro has through the years built a strong reputation as supplier to the world’s best soccer teams and leading grass roots sponsor of the game in the United States. Umbro and its double diamond logo are recognized on all seven continents, in the sport’s largest arenas, which are home to the world’s greatest soccer teams.

Umbro’s vast knowledge of the equipment needs of soccer players, its commitment to excellence, and its dedication to producing the very best soccer products, are major factors in the company’s emergence as a complete soccer resource and one of the leading soccer apparel companies in the United States.
Utilizing four major hubs in the United States, England, Brazil and the Far East (Hong Kong), the company is structured as a multi-national organization, a key to making an impact on a truly international sport.
Umbro’s knowledge of what it takes to play soccer, along with its long association with the world’s best players, has positively influenced the company’s ability to produce high-performance soccer products.
Well-positioned as a technological leader, Umbro has also been highly successful in spearheading soccer performance fabrics for match play and training sessions. Umbro uniforms are built with superior moisture transportation qualities, making them equally comfortable in autumn weather, when most of the world plays soccer, to the hot, humid environments that surround the World Cup.
Umbro was the first company to take fabric made from recycled materials and put it on the professional playing field.
The name Umbro is derived from the original name of the business – Humphreys Brothers. In 1924, Harold and Wallace Humphreys started their company with $50 in capital, two sewing machines, a slot-knife cutter and a delivery motorcycle.
Umbro reaffirmed its commitment to United Soccer Leagues in 2006 when it announced Umbro International, Ltd. had purchased an additional 30 percent of USISL, Inc. stock.
Umbro was acquired by Nike at the beginning of 2008. Nike will maintain Umbro as its own unique identity and brand as it has done with other subsidiaries such as Converse.
