Zach has been playing soccer since he was 5 years old. He learned early on that his niche would be in the net. Zach played at every level of AYSO, then moved on to play at the club level with the Tahuichi Soccer Club and AV Heat Soccer Club for five years.
In 2001 he joined the Lancaster High School team on the Junior Varsity team. In his senior year he took over the starting position on the Varsity team. After high school Zach spent his first two years of college playing for Moorpark College in Moorpark, CA. He didn’t get alot of playing time his freshman year and ended that year tied for 37th in the state in goals against. In his sophomore year Zach took the starting position once again. He finished 5th in the state in GAA with a .075 average with 500 shutout minutes in 1300 minutes of play. Zach also received the honor of First Team All Conference, Second Team All Region and he was also nominated All-American. Moorpark’s head coach, Sean Roche once said, "The best shot stopper I’ve seen in a long time". After graduating from Moorpark College Zach received a soccer scholarship to Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernan, GA. In his junior year Zach was first in the Southern States Athletic Conference and 2nd in the NAIA in saves per game with just shy of 10.
In his senior year Zach received Honorable Mention from the SSAC and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports and Fitness.

In 2007 Zach joined the Premier Development League by being chosen to play for the Lancaster Rattlers where the first year team did not fare well but Zach was tied in the PDL for second in saves with 102 stops. He was 7th overall in the PDL in game minutes. He played 16 games and was tied for first in games played. | |
