Jacob, a West Valley H.S. Graduate, started playing for the Reds in 1998. As a high schooler, Jacob was selected to the Mid-Valley 1st team sophomore - senior year, as well as the leading scorer in the league both Junior and Senior year. On top of being the leading score, Jacob was also recognized at the Mid-Valley Player of the Year in his final season at West Valley.
After High School, Jacob went on to play for the University of Washington, where he was a consistent starter three out of the four years he attended the school and was on the Dean’s list a total of 3 times for getting a 3.5 G.P.A. Or higher.
Jacob played for the Reds during the summer, while attending the University of Washington. Jacob was the leading scorer for the Reds in their 1999 season. During the 2000 season, Jacob lead the Team and the PDL league in Assists, and was a big contributor in the Yakima Reds making the Final Four Championship Tournament in the year 2000. Jacob played for the Yakima Reds from 1998 to 2001.
After his graduation from the UW, Jacob was selected 3rd by the Portland Timbers in the A-league draft. Jake played 3 seasons at the club (runs from March until the end of September). Following the 2002 and 2003 seasons, Jacob was scouted by a coach from England who set up a trial at 1st division club Grimsby Town (1 below the Premiership league (Manchester United’s league)). A fond memory of Jakes was that during the 2002 season he got to play in front of 30,000 fans. In 2003, after another enjoyable season with the Portland Timbers, Jake made his way to the UK again. This time playing with a lower division club called Halifax Town. In Halifax, Jake was a consistent starter and played nearly 60 matches in the year. Following the English season, Jake once again returned to wear the green and white with the Portland Timbers. Following the Portland Timbers, Jacob spent two years (2005 and 2006) in Seattle playing for the Sounders and helped win the championship in 2005. |
