Jovan will be a sophomore this coming Fall (2007) at University of Illinois - Chicago (UIC) for 2nd-year head coach John Trask. Jovan is a native of Belgrade, Serbia.
In the 2006 collegiate season he was named as the Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year; College Soccer News All-Freshman Team; 2006 All-Horizon League First Team; and the 2006 All-Horizon League Newcomer Team. UIC posted a record of 13-3-5.He ranked fourth in the nation with a 0.373 goals against average and rated third nationally with a .905 save percentage. He allowed just eight goals in over 1,900 minutes of play and posted a school-record 10 shutouts. He helped UIC earn the honor of the nation’s top defense..
In the 2005 college season Jovan at out the season as a medical redshirt after recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL, retaining four years of eligibility.
In his high school career in Serbia he played keeper for VI Belgradian High School...played between the posts on the club level for BPI Pekar for coach Boban Zivkovic in Belgrade...appeared in 40 matches (17 official and 23 friendlies) with the U-16 and U-17 Serbia and Montenegro National Teams...born September 29, 1986...son of Branko and Branka Bubonja.
