Born in but with Puerto Rican parents, Carlos played college soccer at the University of Pennsylvania of the NCAA Division I. In 2006, he came to Puerto Rico and joined the Islanders Reserve Team. He was without a doubt one of the best players in the team. His performance with the Reserves was notable so he was called up by the First Team. He was a member of the team in the Concacaf Champions Cup Qualifiers in December 2006. He returns to the Islanders for the 2007 season as a young local prospect in the squad.
