Peruvian central defender who started playing in the youth leagues of Club Sporting Cristal in . He debuted as a professional in 1996 with Club San Agustin. In 1997, he returned to Sporting Cristal where he helped his team reach the second place in the Copa Libertadores. From 1998 to 2005 he played with ’s First Division sides Club Alianza Atletico, Club Juan Aurich, Club Universitario de Deportes, Club Sport Boys, F.B.C. Melgar, and also had a short stint in ’s FC Saturn Moscow . Ruben has represented in the Torneo Sudamericano as an U-17, U-20, and U-23. In 2006, he played for the Long Island Rough Riders of the USL Second Division. He joins the Puerto Rico Islanders for the 2007 season.
