Player that has the ability to play in any position in the field, but has stood out as left back in his three seasons with the Islanders. He played for Club Sporting de San Juan prior to joining the club in 2004. Rivera has participated in several international tournaments in and South America . He has been a vital member of the Puerto Rican National Team, participating in tours in , , and the Caribbean . His most recent international cap was in the 2005 Concacaf’s Gold Cup Qualifiers at . His outstanding performance in his first season with the Islanders enabled him to be rewarded as “2004 Athlete of the Year” by the Puerto Rican Soccer Federation. In 2005, Rivera scored the Islanders’ first goal of the season, being recognized by the USL in the Team of the Week #2. He spent the month of November 2005 training with ’s First Division side Club Palestino. In 2006, Alexis appeared in 21 games. He missed the Concacaf Champions Cup Qualifiers due to an ankle injury. However, he returns in 2007 for his fourth consecutive season with the Islanders.
