Professional Experience and Honors:
2005: In his third season as backup goalkeeper, Ankiel made his professional debut in Portland on September 10, 2005 against the Timbers, saving five of nine shots faced.
2003-2004: Ankiel served as backup goalkeeper for Ronnie Pascale as a rookie in the USL First Division.

College Experience and Honors:
2002: Steve saw action in five games as the Rams #2 goalkeeper.  Each game he appeared in was a team shutout and he made three saves over the season. 
2001: As a walk-on, Ankiel recorded two shutouts and a 1.53 GAA in 10 games.
2000: Ankiel played in 18 games, starting one as goalkeeper for 1357 minutes total.  He recorded a 2.25 GAA.
1999: As a freshman at Concord College, Steve saw action in 12 games, recording a .567 save percentage.

Attended Thomas Dale High School…Majoring in pre-nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University….Son of Marsha and Steve Ankiel.
