Hometown: Tamale, Ghana Last Club: Chicago Fire (MLS)

 Bio:
Profile: At the University of Maryland from 1999-2003, Sumed Ibrahim was regarded as one of the top players in the nation. After a promising freshman year, a stress fracture in his right foot kept him on the sidelines for all of the 2000 season, but the 5-9, 150-pound midfielder still managed to score 25 goals and 78 points in 86 career games at Maryland (including a career-high 31 points as a sophomore in 2001). In addition to earning All-South Atlantic Region honors four times, Sumed found a spot on the All-ACC First Team three straight years from 2001-2003, and was a First Team All-American in 2002 and 2003. As a senior, Sumed finished third in the voting for the Hermann Trophy, collegiate soccer’s equivalent to the Heisman. The native of Tamale, Ghana, was taken by the Chicago Fire with the 20th overall pick in the 2004 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. He appeared in three games (one start) for Chicago in 2004, totaling 82 minutes.

Note: When second-referencing Sumed Ibrahim's name, it is incorrect according to his culture to use only Ibrahim. In order to show respect and preserve the integrity of his heritage, it is correct to second-reference his name by using his full name or by using only his primary name (Sumed), as it is the surname he will pass on in his culture.
