| 2004: One of several rookies who made exceptional contributions for Harrisburg in 2004, Lapore stands as one of the most impressive young players in the league. With a unique mix of skill and power, he earned a spot in the starting lineup by the club’s second game and was a fixture thereafter. His versatility made him especially valuable: a high-scoring striker in college, Lapore found himself in the front, middle, and back for the Islanders in 2004, though he spent the bulk of his time as a disruptive defensive midfielder. An Achilles injury slowed him late in the year and kept him on the sidelines for all but 23 minutes of the Islanders’ playoff series with Pittsburgh, but he still finished third on the team with 17 games played, including 10 starts.
