Clarke was selected Vancouver's Most Valuable Player in media voting in 2002, finishing fourth in team scoring in with six goals and five assists.


Enjoyed a sensational start to his professional career with
Vancouver in 1997, earning the starting spot at sweeper, and going on to be one of the team's standout player for the season.

International - National Team:

Clarke has 19 caps and one goal for
Canada's National Team. He made his full national team debut at the age of 19 on August 17, 1997 against Iran. His most recent appearance was in Canada's 3-1 win over Switzerland on May 15, 2002 in St. Gallen. His only international goal came in a 1-0 exhibition win over Trinidad & Tobago on May 27, 2000. In addition Clarke was the captain of Canada's 2000 Olympic Team. He was also the captain of the Canadian U-20 Team that competed at the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championships in Malaysia

North America:


Between periods spent in
Europe
, Clarke played seven games for the A-League's Hampton Roads Mariners in 2000. He also played for the Portland Timbers in 2001, scoring three goals and one assist in 21 games.

Overseas:

Went to Europe following the 1997, and spent two seasons with St. Patrick's Athletic of the League of Ireland. In search of a higher-calibre competition, Clarke had a series of tryouts in England, Denmark, and Austria but was hampered by European work permit restrictions. In 2000, Clarke went back to Europe for a brief spell with Irish club Longford Town.

Amateur:

Clarke was the captain of the Simon Fraser University Clan soccer team.
