Klein has spent the last three years with the Charleston Battery, starting 81 of 84 games played. During his time with the Battery he scored eight goals and assisted on five. Prior to Charleston, the native of Nashville Tennessee, played three seasons with the Hershey Wildcats under Lilley, where he accumulated 13 goals and 10 assists in 68 games. In 1999, Klein made the A-League All-Star team.
Following college, Klein was drafted by Major League Soccer's New England Revolution in the 3rd Round 22nd overall the 1997 season but saw limited time due to injury. Klein also saw time with the Worcester Wildfire of the USL A-League in 1997 where he scored two goals in six matches. In 1998, before joining the Wildcats, Klein played a season for the Nashville Metros.
Klein was a 4-year starter at Bowling Green State University, where he was voted 1st team All-American in his senior year. He is also the all-time leading points scorer at BGSU. The attacking midfielder captained the Falcons in `95 & `96. Klein scored 18 goals and assisted on 14 while winning 1996 All MAC, MAC All-Tournament & MAC Player of the Year awards. #1 all time for the Brown and Orange of BGSU in points with 119 and assists with 45. All-MAC, All-Ohio and All-Mideast in '94, '95, and '96, and first-team All-America in '96.
