Drafted by the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2002 first round – 10 overall – Centennial High School, Harmse
He spent 2000 and 2001 in Portugal, playing for Club Real of Lisbon, and has also trained with European powers Bayern Munich and Benfica. He has also recently been the subject of interest by Norwegian club Tromso. He has six caps with the Canadian U-20s.
Harmse was born July 4, 1984 in South Africa, but moved to Canada with his family at the age of three. A product of Metro-Ford and Coquitlam youth soccer as well as a key member of the Roman Tulis European Soccer School of Excellence, Harmse is a graduate of Dr. Charles Best Secondary School in Coquitlam. He currently plays for ICSF Inter in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League.

Harmse played in the last two games in the Final Olympic Qualifying Round... Played all five games for Canada at the 2003 Fifa World Youth Championship... Scored two goals against USVI in Olympic Qualifying on September 7, 2003 ... Called up to the World Cup Team for the first time for the game against the USA on January 18, 2003 but did not play … Made his Olympic Team debut in two game series against the United States in December 2002 … Played for Canada’s Youth (U-20) Team at the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament in Charleston, SC in November 2002.
