In 2004, helped the Impact play 12 straight games without a loss (8-0-4), a club record, and go on to win the championship title... Helped the Impact finish first in overall standings in 2003, tied with the Milwaukee Wave United... In 2002, helped the team finish first in the Northeast Division, tied with the Rochester Raging Rhinos... Now lives year-round in Montreal... Played his first USL season in 2000 with the Cincinnati Riverhawks... In spite of a 1-10-2 record, posted a 2.19 goals-against average with two shutouts... Joined the Impact in 2001, taking the starting position away from Jim Larkin to come up with a 8-6-2 record with six shutouts in spite of the team’s ordinary season... Kicked off his pro career in 1999 with the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer... Kept a 1.46 average with a 1-2-0 record in three games and 247 minutes of play with Chicago... Made his debut against San Jose, as after 10 minutes of play, starting goalkeeper Zach Thornton was ejected from the game... Earned his first chance, his first win and his first shutout... In 2000, after two more games with Chicago, was traded to the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, another MLS team...
INTERNATIONAL Played an international friendly against Northern Ireland with the Canadian World team and collected the shutout in a 1-0 victory, February 9, in Belfast… Was also invited to the international friendly against Portugal on March 26, in Barcelos… Was invited to the Canadian team’s training camp, January 12-23, 2004 in Fort Lauderdale, shortly after the hiring of Frank Yallop as new head coach...That was his first invitation at that level... Had his first cap with the Canadian team on January 18, 2004, a friendly game against Barbados, and earned a 1-0 shutout... Was part of the Canadian Olympic team that tried to qualify for the Sydney Games... With MSL club Chicago Fire, played against Darby County (England) and Legia Warsaw (Poland) in international friendlies... In 2004, was invited to Bolton tryout, an England first-division team…
2002 SEASON Tallied 10 shutouts in his second season with the Impact, a personal best in three USL seasons at the time... Had collected six shutouts the preceding year, his first with the Impact... Reached the 10-win mark for the first time of his career in the pro ranks... Helped the Impact post the league’s fourth best defence with 29 goals allowed in 28 games... His 0.985 goals-against average gave him third place among league goalkeepers... Was one of six Impact players to finish the season with over 2,000 minutes played... In the first playoff round, stopped a penalty kick by Nate Watkins by diving to hist left in the sixth round of PKs, allowing Mark Rowland to score the winner on the Impact sixth PK and beat the Charlotte Eagles... The series was tied 1-1 at the end of a home-and-home series, requiring penalty kicks... Shut out his opponents three times in four starts over the playoffs, for an average of 0.46... Only two goalkeepers did better during the 2002 playoffs...
2003 SEASON Proclaimed the league’s Goalkeeper of the Year, becoming the first Impact player to receive that award since Paolo Ceccarelli in 1996... Was also awarded the Giuseppe-Saputo Trophy, given to the Impact team MVP... Became the third goalkeeper in Impact history to win the Giuseppe-Saputo award, after Jim Larkin (2000) and Paolo Ceccarelli (1996)... Led the league’s goalkeepers for goals-against average (0.731), minutes played (2,463), shutouts (11, tied with Charleston’s Dustin Hudock), and wins (15, tied with Minnesota’s Joseph Warren)... His 11 shutouts were also a personal high at that time... Helped the Impact post the best defence in the league with 21 goals allowed in 28 games... Was selected on the league’s first all-star team, his first career selection... His 11th shutout, collected August 31 in Montreal against Calgary, allowed the Impact to retain the Voyageurs Cup, awarded to the league’s top Canadian team, in addition to finishing first in overall league standings, tied with the Milwaukee Wave United... Was picked on the Team of the Week after helping the Impact remain undefeated over a two-game series against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, June 13 in Montreal (1-1) and June 15 in Pittsburgh (3-1)... Helped the Impact come up with the best road record in the league (10-3-1)... Was the Impact busiest player with 2,463 minutes played...
2004 SEASON Signed a new three-year contract with the Impact, although he became a free agent following the 2003 season... Was named league MVP and the Impact’s Defensive Player of the Year… Had 16 shutouts in 25 starts, a personnal high and a team record… His 16 shutouts tied a league record established by Pat Onstad in 1998 with the Rochester Rhinos… Registered over 10 shutouts for the third straight year… Found himself with a total of 43 regular-season career shutouts, an Impact all-time high… Also became the Impact record holder among the club’s goalkeepers in terms of career games (93) and minutes (8889) played with the team, ahead of Paolo Ceccarelli… Contributed to the team’s stretches of eight straight shutouts and 773 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal, two team records... Helped the team collect a total of 19 shutouts, a league record... Had a 0.54 goals-against average, the third lowest in league history for a 20-game season or more, giving him the Goalkeeper of the Year title for a second season in a row… Was named on the first All-Star team for a second year in a row… Was named Player of the Week May 4… Started all five playoffs games and added four shutouts to his record… Had a post-season goals-against average of 0.20… Had a shutout against the Seattle Sounders in the championship final, which the Impact won 2-0, on Sept. 18...
