2002: Bret appeared in five matches for the Kickers in 2002, starting and playing 90 minutes in a 4-2 loss to the Charlotte Eagles on 8/23/02.
College Experience and Honors:
As a Senior: Appeared in all 21 matches, earning 18 starts… took 47 shots, including 21 shots on goal… netted 3 goals and 7 assists for a total of 13 points… Finished his career tied for sixth on Richmond’s all-time assists list with 21… named to the all tournament team of the Nike/ALLTEL Classic hosted by VCU… recipient of the team’s Leigh Cowlishaw Hall of Fame Award, awarded to the senior student-athlete who has demonstrated outstanding play and dedication throughout his entire athletic career at Richmond… named to the NSCAA East Region Scholar-Athlete second team… also named to the Atlantic 10 all-academic team
As a Junior: Appeared in 17 matches with 16 starts... registered two goals and four assists for eight total points ... posted a goal at Brown as well as the Spiders initial goal in a 4-2 victory over Saint Bonaventure at the UR-Nike Challenge Cup.
As a Sophomore: Appeared in 20 matches and earned nine starts...led the team with eight goals and 24 total points... tied for the team’s assists lead with eight...voted to the UR-Nike Challenge Cup all-tournament team...named to the CAA all-tournament team.
As a Freshman: Played in 16 matches, earning two starts...scored two goals on just 10 shots on goal...notched a pair of assists for six total points... saw his first collegiate action versus Wisconsin...struck for the game-winning goal in a 4-2 win at Davidson... also made an impact against East Carolina, accounting for the game-winning tally in a 4-0 Spiders victory... had the game-winning assist in a 3-2 overtime win versus American.
