Professional Experience and Honors:
2002: One of only four players to record more than 10,000 minutes in a Richmond Kickers uniform, Paul played in 28 games in 2002, earning A-League Team of the Week honors for his play in a mid-season tie against the Charleston Battery and win against the Atlanta Silverbacks.
2001: After only playing in five games during the 2001 season, Paul went down in a game against Nashville on May 4, 2001 with an MCL tear in his knee, but after much rehabilitation was able to re-surface for the final two games of the regular season on September 7th and 8th. In those 7 games Paul was still able to contribute offensively with one goal and one assist.
1997-2000: In the past five seasons Paul has accumulated 9,427 minutes and is fourth on the Kickers’ all-time list for matches played with 113. In that time the iron-man has accumulated 14 goals and 5 assists for 33 points in a defensive midfield role. Paul is known to be a tenacious defender who can control the midfield and is known to shut down opposing teams’ offensive threat. Paul joined the Kickers from the Chicago Fire of MLS where he was the 1st draft choice of the third round in the ’97 MLS supplemental draft.
College Experience and Honors:
A key to Creighton’s success, he started 69 of 73 games, leading the top defensive team in the NCAA. He was named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Player of the Year in 1995, MVC’s Freshman of the Year in ’92, All-MVC in ’94 and ’95, and All-Tournament in ’93, ’94 and ’95.
International Experience:
As a member of the US National U-23 team he toured Holland in 1995, trained with Schalke 04 of Germany’s 1st division in the summer of ’95, and was an Olympic Festival participant in ’93 and ’94.
