Professional Experience and Honors: 2002: Ray started 20 of the 25 games he appeared in during the 2002 season. He was named to the A-League Team of the Week on May 14th for his solid defensive play in a 4-1 win against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on May 11th. He also recorded a game-winning goal against the Minnesota Thunder on August 2nd when, just three minutes after entering the game, he converted a shot in overtime to seal the Kickers victory, 3-2.
2001: A member of D.C. United, Goodlett was loaned to the Kickers for the home opener on April 14th. Although the pacy defender suited up, he was not called upon as Richmond preserved the 2-1 win over conference rival Charleston. After being released by D.C. United on May 4th, the Kickers were quick to snap him up after he cleared MLS waivers. Starting 13 of the 19 games he appeared in, Goodlett was an integral part of the defensive unit that recorded 9 shutouts.
2000: After playing the majority (10 games) of 2000 with the Hershey Wildcats (A-League), Goodlett’s services were acquired on July 12, just prior to United’s home match against the Tampa Bay Mutiny on the same day. Goodlett did not make an appearance in the 2-2 draw, but was available for selection. He did enter the next match as a substitute. Goodlett replaced striker Pete Marino in the 83rd minute for defensive purposes in United’s 2-1 away win against Los Angeles on July 15, just prior to the All-Star break. After the break Goodlett was rewarded with his first start for the Black-and-Red, playing right back in a four-back scheme at RFK against the MetroStars on August 2. Goodlett’s next two appearances came in the first XI and were back to back against the New England Revolution in a home-and-home series. By year’s end, Goodlett had appeared in four matches, three of those in the starting eleven.
1999: Signed with the Hershey Wildcats (A-League) on April 12, 1999. Played in 17 games with the club in 1999 and tallied one assist. Was a regular starter at the end of the 1999 campaign. Goodlett was called to play for D.C. United vs. New England Revolution on July 25, 1999, although he did not see any action.
College Experience and Honors: Scored six goals and tallied 11 assists for 23 points during four seasons at Howard University in Washington, DC…started 66 of 67 matches he appeared in for the Bison… named first team All Mid-Continent Conference after the 1996 season.
