Professional Career:
2002: Burke appeared in 34 of the Kickers 37 games, notching 2 goals and 4 assists for 8 points. His speed and creativity up the right sideline gave Richmond an added dimension in 2002.
2001: In his first full season as a Richmond Kicker, this crafty and speedy right sided player tallied 4 goals and 5 assists overall (3 goals and 5 assists in league play) in 31 games played. Burke, a right midfielder, showed times of brilliance through his technical ability and early flank service.
2000: Drafted 41st overall (fourth round) in the MLS Superdraft by D.C. United. Played in 7 games, starting 4 for D.C. Was released on June 2nd by United and was signed on June 15th by the Dallas Burn. Played in two games with Dallas for a total of 41 minutes before being released on June 30th. Burke joined the Kickers a day later and tallied 3 goals and 2 assists for 8 points in 16 games played. The speedy right-winger was also named to the A-League team of the week on 7/24/00 (week 16).
1999: Played for the Charleston Battery of the A-League and was named the club’s most valuable player and team offensive player of the year. Finished second on the team in regular season scoring with 6 goals and 6 assists for 18 points.
1998: Named A-League Rookie of the Year. Started his professional career with the Jacksonville Cyclones and was acquired by the Charleston Battery in a late season trade. Scored in nine consecutive matches during the 1998 season. He was also the third leading scorer in the league and was named to the All A-League second team.
College Experience:
Burke played for two years at Loyola College. He played in every game those two years and earned First Team MAAC Conference honors.
Other Experience:
Burke trained with Deportivo Cali in Colombia in 1997 and with Nottingham Forest in England in 1998. In January '99, Burke was selected to the U.S. Under-23 National team Pool, and was selected MVP of the 1999 Umbro Select Classic in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
