Professional Experience and Honors:
2002: Unfortunately for both Chris and the Kickers, Brown suffered a season-ending knee injury just 56 minutes into the 2002 season.
2001: 2001 has seen Chris Brown again anchor a stellar defensive effort. For the second year in a row the defense has registered at least nine shutouts (9 in 2001) despite two new faces in the defensive back four.
2000: Brown was one of four players that formed the Richmond Kickers “defensive unit” in 2000. This “unit” of players helped tally 13 shutouts and allowed only 30 goals in 33 games (includes playoffs and U.S. Open Cup). Brown played and started in 28 of those 33 games as a central defender and accounted for 2,279 minutes.
1996-1999: The tough defender has an extended resume after beginning his pro career with the Kickers in 1996. That year he was traded mid-season to the New Orleans Storm, where he was a steady performer and iron-man for the next three seasons. Prior to the 1999 season Brown signed with the Maryland Mania but returned to New Orleans mid-season. Between the two squads he played in a total of 25 games and helped the Storm make the playoffs with a third place finish in the Central Division. The Indiana Blast signed Chris in the off-season after the New Orleans franchise folded, however the Kickers were able to acquire him in an off-season trade. Brown’s professional experience goes beyond the A-League, he has been called up to MLS teams such as Tampa Bay and Dallas and even spent time overseas with TuS Celle of the German Third Division.
