Joseph Schmid’s brilliant goal in the 35th minute was all the Central Jersey Spartans needed to pick up their first win of the season. The strike, coupled with a Rafael Diaz shutout, led the Spartans (1-5-1) to a 1-0 victory Tuesday night over the visiting Brooklyn Knights at Rider University Field. "I thought there were two teams that played the right way out there," said Central Jersey’s second-year head coach Sam Nellins. "There were chances both ways and I have respect for the way they went about it. Our boys kept trying and got this one."
