At age 6 Mauricio started playing soccer with the AYSO team The Wild Cats. He then moved on to join the PYSL Cobras and later went to play with AV Heat Soccer Club. He played with AV Heat for 3 seasons. From there Mauricio went to the AV Sharks FC for 3 yrs.
In an effort to find a higher level of competition, Mauricio moved to the Thousand Oaks based So Cal United. In all of his years at the club level Mauricio achieved over 25 medals in tournaments.
In 8th grade Mauricio lead his Shadow Hills Junior High School team in scoring and was awarded Offensive Player of the Year. At Highland High School he played 4 years on the Varsity team and was awarded Honorable Mention. In his sophomore yr. he made First Team and in his junior year he once again made First Team and he lead in scoring, in assists and he was Team Captain.
After high school Mauricio played for 2 years at the College of the Canyons where he currently holds the record for most goals scored in one season, was awarded First Team and was Offensive Player of the Year.
In 2007 Mauricio joined the Lancaster Rattlers PDL team of the United Soccer Leagues. He played in 12 games and had 2 goals, 3 assists and 7 points in 872 minutes of play. Mauricio resigned in 2008. He played in all 16 games for a total of 1,628 minutes played.
Mauricio began his 3rd season with the Rattlers in 2009 and is among one of the very few of the original Rattlers. | |
