Zach has played soccer since he was 5 yrs. old. He learned early on that his niche on the field would be goalkeeper. Zach played at every level of AYSO then he moved on to play 5 years of club soccer with the Tahuichi Soccer Club and AV Heat Soccer Club. In 2001 Zach joined the Lancaster High School team as a Junior and in his Senior year he took over the Varsity goalkeeping starting position.
After high school Zach spent his first two years of college playing for Moorpark College in Moorpark, CA.. He did not get alot of playing time his freshman year and ended up tied for 37th in the start in goals against. In his sophomore year Zach started all but two games. He finished 5th in the state in GAA with a .075 average and 500 shutout minutes in 1300 minutes played. Zach also received the honor of First Team All Conference, Second Team All Region and was nominated All American. " The best shot stopper I’ve seen in a long time " Sean Roach, the head coach for Moorpark College soccer was quoted saying. After graduating from Moorpark, Zach received a full soccer scholarship to Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA.
In his junior year Zach was first in the Southern States Athletic conference and 2nd in the NAIA in saves per game, with just shy of 10. In his senior year Zach received honorable mention from the SSAC and graduted with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports & Fitness. Brewton-Parker’s head coach Ben Moore was quoted saying " One of the fastest shot stoppers I’ve seen ".
In 2007 Zach joined the Premier Development League of the United Soccer League team, the Lancaster Rattlers where the first year team did not fare well but Zach was tied in the PDL for second in saves with 102. That was 7th overall in the PDL in game minutes. Zach played all 16 games and tied for first in games played.
Zach spent 2008 with the Rattlers and has become a staple in the organizations growth and development.
In 2009 Zach played every game in the PDL season, 1440 minutes leading in several stats Zach is ranked by the United Soccer Leagues as number one in GK min. played, Rank number one in games played (all 16). And Zach lead the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League in total saves of 114 in 16 games thats an average of 7 per game, | |
