Barons career

2008: 6 goals (T-1st), 4 assists (T-1st), 16 points (1st) in 15 appearances (1,036 minutes played) - Became the Barons’ All-Time leading scorer, passing Ruben MIngo. His assist in the final game of the season (a 2-0 home win vs. New Jersey Rangers), helped him finish the season with an even 100 points for his career.

2007: 9 goals (1st), 4 assists (T-2nd), 22 points (1st) in 12 appearances (941 minutes) - Scored the game-winning goal in the Barons’ 1-0 upset win over Crystal Palace Baltimore (USL-2) in the First Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on June 12.

2006: 6 goals (2nd), 4 assists (2nd), 16 points (2nd) in 16 appearances (1,194 minutes)

2005: 10 goals (T-2nd), 4 assists (3rd), 24 points (3rd) in 16 appearances (1,111 minutes) - Scored 3 goals in U.S. Open Cup play (First Round vs. USASA’s New York Greek American Atlas & 2 goals at Richmond Kickers of USL-1) Scored a goal in the opening round of the PDL playoffs, a thrilling 5-4 game that the Barons lost to the Richmond Kickers Future on August 1.

2004: 10 goals (2nd), 2 assists, 22 points (2nd) in 11 appearances (963 minutes) - Scored 3 goals in U.S. Open Cup play (2 vs. Allied S.C. of the USASA in the First Round & 1 vs. A-League’s Syracuse Salty Dogs). Carmichael left the club just after the midseason point to sign with the Utah Blitzz of the Pro Soccer League where he helped them win the league championship. Utah was down 2-0 in the championship game, but Carmichael scored the equalizer in the 80th minute and the Blitzz won the title on penalty kicks.

Pre-Barons
2003: After being drafted by the Kansas City Wizards in the MLS SuperDraft, Carmichael eventually signed with the Cincinnati Riverhawks of the A-League (now USL First Division), but left at mid-season to sign with the Wilmington Hammerheads of the Pro Soccer League (now USL Second Division) - The biggest moment came in the Second Round of the  U.S. Open Cup when Carmichael assisted on two goals in Wilmington’s 4-1 upset of the Dallas Burn (now F.C. Dallas)

U.S. Open Cup
Byron Carmichael is one of the top goalscorers in the Professional Era (1995-present) of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. His 10 goals put him in a tie with Dante Washington for third place on the all-time list. He made his debut for the Wilmington Hammerheads in the Third Round of the 2003 tournament where he scored the equalizing goal in the Hammerheads’ 2-1 upset of the Atlanta Silverbacks of the A-League (now USL First Division). In the Fourth Round, he came off the bench and assisted on two of the Hammerheads’ four unanswered goals in a 4-1 route of the Dallas Burn. The club would fall in the Quarterfinals in a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of D.C. United.

In 2004 with the Barons, Carmichael scored three goals, one of them against the A-League’s Syracuse Salty Dogs in the Second Round. He scored three more the following year, two of them in the highest scoring game in Professional Era, an 8-4 loss to the Richmond Kickers of the USL First Division. Carmichael scored the game-winning goal in 2007's First Round upset of the Crystal Palace Baltimore. In 2009, Carmichael was the thorn in Crystal Palace's side again, as he scored two goals in a 3-0 opening round upset, earning him USOpenCup.com Player of the Round honors.

College (Marshall University)

Byron is a former Youth Team player with the South Jersey Barons who went on to become an outstanding collegiate athlete and professional player. He won two National Youth Soccer Titles at U17 and U18 levels before signing with Marshall University (WV).

Byron attended Marshall University from 1999-2002. There Byron won several awards for his play beginning in 1999 when he was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Newcomer of the Year. In 2001 and 2002 he was voted the MAC Player of the Year and was a MAC First team All-Conference selection. Bryon finished his career as the MAC's all-time career points and goals leader as well as Marshall Men's Soccer program's all-time career points and goals leader.
