ATLANTA, GA -- On a 'blackout' themed night, the Silverbacks played lights out to defeat the Richmond Kickers 4-0. The Silverbacks, as well as many of their fans, were decked out in all black to celebrate the theme.

The Kickers didn't start the game in all black, but certainly finished black and blue as the Silverbacks dominated the match from start to finish.
The Silverbacks came out strong tonight as they took an early 2-0 lead heading into halftime. If it weren't for a few unfortunate offsides calls, the Silverbacks could have held a 4-0 lead at the half. Goals in the 26th and 38th minute were called back due to offsides.
The Silverbacks got on the board in the 18th minute as Megan Tomlinson assisted Alexa Newfield to give the Silverbacks an early 1-0 lead.
The Silverbacks would add onto their lead in the 45th minute as Cortni Joyner staked the Silverbacks to a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. Joyner's goal came off a deflection after Richmond keeper Allie Allbright made a save on Tomlinson's breakaway.
In the 58th minute, Michelle Buskey came in as a substitute and immediately made her presence felt. In the 61st minute, Buskey buried the deflection from Newfield's shot to give the Silverbacks the 3-0 advantage.
Buskey would strike again in the 73rd minute to cap off the scoring for the Silverbacks at 4 goals. Her 2nd goal of the night was assisted by Rebecca Hall. In three games entering as a substitute, Buskey has accumulated 3 goals and an assist. She leads the team in goals despite playing less than 45 minutes in every game.
On a night that saw many close calls and missed opportunities, the Silverbacks have to be pleased with the final score. The Silverbacks were able to match their total goals scored in the first two games by just the 73rd minute of the game.
The Silverbacks are now 3-0 on the season and look to continue their good fortunes at home as they take on the Cary Lady Cadets, Friday June 5th at home. For the first time the Silverbacks will be sporting their ALL WHITE kit at home - fans can continue the streak and show their support by wearing all white next week and making some noise - the Silverbacks will be giving away noise horns
SILVERBACKS HOST FIRST CLUB NIGHT WITH ASA June 5th
The Silverbacks will be hosting their first ever 'Club Pride' night, next Friday on June 5th. The players from the ASA soccer club are able to get in free by wearing their white ASA club jersey.
"This will be something a bit different from in years past. We are going to try this out for one game this season, with the hopes that next year we can have a club a night for each game. We reached out to a number of local clubs and ASA was the first club willing to spearhead this with the team," commented Silverbacks GM Laura Fedrigo.
