ST LOUIS, MO -- The Thunder Bay Chill suffered a 1-0 loss to the St. Louis Lions Sunday night in what was the first game of their season long four game road trip. The result was not the start to the road trip the Chill were looking to make, as this week is critical for the teams push towards the playoffs.
The Lions went ahead early in the 12th minute, with the go ahead goal scored by Steven Beattie.
The Lions then settled into a defensive shell that withstood all of the Chill’s attack for 90 minutes. However, St. Louis did not escape without any scares as the Chill were unable to capitalize on several goal scoring opportunities.
As the Chill look towards the next game in Springfield, they will be without Sola Abolaji who was ejected in the 73rd minute after some commotion near the Lions fans. The team is considering appealing Abolaji’s suspension, but will prepare to be without him for Tuesday’s game.
The Chill will face the Springfield Demize on Tuesday June 30th, 2009, kicking off at 8:30 p.m. (EDT) at the Cooper Sports Complex, in Springfield, Missouri.
