ATLANTA, GA – The Atlanta Silverbacks were able to end the regular season with two wins on the road, sealing their third Atlantic Division Title. Atlanta picked up a 1-0 win on the road at Charlotte, followed by a 3-1 win on the road at Cary.
The Silverbacks faced another challenging battle with Charlotte with chances at both ends. With a number of opportunities early on they were unable to capitalize until the 82nd minute when Megan Tomlinson was able to find Libby Guess in the box to put Atlanta ahead, 1-0. The three points would give the Silverbacks the Atlantic Division title.
Sunday evening, the Silverbacks were able to convert earlier in the game, going into half with a 2-0 lead over the Cary Clarets. The ‘Backs had a goal from Cary Patterson and two from Megan Tomlinson, but were unable to hold the shutout for goalkeeper Megan Betos. Unfortunately for Betos, Cary got a PK called in the 89th minute to put them on the board and finish out the game, 3-1.
Silverbacks Set to Host Conference Championships
The Silverbacks will be hosting the Eastern Conference playoffs this weekend at Atlanta Silverbacks Park.
The Conference Semi-Finals will be held this Friday, June 24th with semi-final games at 5:00PM & 7:30PM EST. In addition, the Silverbacks will host the Conference Final on Saturday, June 25th at 7:30pm.
