Murfreesboro, TN - After a win over the Atlanta Blackhawks on Friday night, Mississippi Brilla FC traveled to Nashville for their final regular season road match.

Mississippi started slowly, unable to find a rythym against the Metros. Both teams traded chances until Mississippi’s Dwyane Demmin fired a loose ball into the top corner of the Nashville net to put Brilla up 1-0 in the 35th minute. They would carry the slim lead into halftime after missing several more chances to extend their lead.

Nashville would regroup during the interval and was able to find an equalizer in the 62nd minute on a counter attack after Debola Ogunseye hammered a shot off of the Nashville crossbar. The Metros collected the ball and swiftly carried the ball downfield before finishing a header at the back post.

The Metros took the lead in the 68th minute after Brilla’s goalkeeper, Josh Pantazelos, stopped two Nashville shots. The Mississippi defense was unable to clear and a Nashville attacker was able to knock the third attempt into the net to go up 2-1.

Mississippi pushed forward for a tying goal and was able to find it in the 83rd minute when Debola Ogunseye collected a pass from Anteneh Lemma, dribbled two Nashville defenders, and them drilled it by Metro ‘keeper Mike Flynn to knot the score at 2-2.

Mississippi pushed forward and pressed for a winner during the last few minutes, but were unable to find another goal and the match ended tied at two goals apiece.

The draw keeps Mississippi in second place, one point behind the Bradenton Academics, in the Southeastern division. Bradenton hosts Panama City on Sunday, and a win over the Pirates will lock up first place for the Academics. A win or a loss to Panama City leaves the door open for Mississippi to take over first place if they are able to win in their last regular season match against the Central Florida Kraze next Saturday in Clinton, MS.
