PLAINVIEW, NY - The Long Island Rough Riders have announced that men's team coach Dan Fisher has stepped down after three seasons in charge.
Citing professional and family reasons, Fisher leaves the Rough Riders after guiding the team to the playoffs for the first time in six seasons. The Rough Riders men improved their record and place in the PDL's Northeast Division in each of Fisher's three years as head coach.
Prior to taking the reigns of the PDL club, Fisher was an assistant coach with the Rough Riders in '01-'02 and again in 2006 when the club was a member of the USL Second Division. In 2002, the Rough Riders won the USL Second Division championship. The Rough Riders record in three years under Fisher was 27-12-9 including appearances in the U.S. Open Cup (2007) and the PDL playoffs (2009).
"We thank Dan for his hard work during his time with the Rough Riders and wish him nothing but the best of luck in the future," said Rough Riders General Manager Flavio Ferri. "At this time, we're beginning the process to find a new PDL coach and hope to have one named after the new year."
