Blackhawks Soar!

Thursday, May 21, 2009

When the Atlanta Blackhawks decide to fly, they soar! Thursday night’s game against the Panama City Pirates was a powerful example of the Blackhawks talent and drive. The Blackhawks dominated during the first half but neither team was able to score. Five minutes into the second-half the Blackhawks began their ascent when Long Tan scored with an assist from Kevin Sawchak. The Blackhawks strongly held that lead until the 88th minute when Tan scored again and two minutes later followed that up with another goal from a cross by Boubacar “BK” Toure.

Blackhawks defenders, Troy Cole, Matt Hoskins and Kyle Timm held their own and only allowed four shots on goal - none of which made their mark. The offense was only too happy to create scoring opportunities with Sam Arthur, Alex Caskey, Wilfrid Louizeau, Kevin Sawchak and Caleb “ChooChoo” Suri all contributing to the pool.

”Tonight’s game really showed how this team has come together”, stated Massoud Roushandel, Head Coach of the Blackhawks. “Our control of the play, decisive passing and completion of opportunities are all getting stronger as these players spend more time on the field together. We are ready to make an impact on PDL soccer.”

The Blackhawks travel to Florida this weekend for a match-up against the Bradenton Academics. Both teams are expected to come out strong as they battle for the only Open Cup slot available in the Southeast Division.
