Disappointing Week for the Blackhawks

It was a disappointing week for the Blackhawks on their Home field. Thursday’s rematch against the Panama City Pirates ended in a 2-1 defeat while their Saturday game against the New Orleans Jesters saw the Jesters squeak by with a 1-0 win.

The Blackhawks were unable to stave off the returning Pirates attempt to claim a win after their previous visit ended in a resounding 3-0 loss to the Blackhawks. This week’s game saw a 0-0 score while both teams vied for dominance as they went into half-time. Though the Blackhawks kept the Pirates at bay during the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half, they were unable to stop a goal by the Pirates Luke Sheekey in the 55th minute. Panama City’s 2nd goal came in the 62nd minute when Pirate Hansen Woodruff squeaked one by Blackhawks Goalkeeper Sean Johnson. The Blackhawks turned the tide when in the 81st minute, Blackhawks Forward Long Tan scored a deliberate goal on an assist from Alhagi Toure. Despite the late comeback, the Blackhawks were unable to capitalize on their offensive push and the game ended in a 2-1 score.

Saturday say the Blackhawks back with determination with a home crowd eager to see some action. The Blackhawks went head-to-head with the New Orleans Jesters while neither team was able to offensively control the game. Blackhawks forwards Long Tan, Ryan Roushandel, Moussa Toure and Alhagi Toure continued to push the Jesters defense while mid-fielders Kyle Timm, Kevin Sawchak, Alex Caskey and Caleb “Chooch” Suri also provided on goal opportunities to score. Despite the Blackhawks 2nd half hold on the game, the Jesters Leo Barras was able to score the only goal of the game with an assist from teammate Elton Alvarez in the 77th minute of the game.  The Blackhawks continued to worry the Jesters defense but were unable to close on the their opportunities and the game ended in a 1-0 loss for the home team.

The Blackhawks play another home game on Friday, June 19th when they host the Central Florida Kraze at Alpharetta High School. Kick-off is at 7:00 pm. Tickets are still available online or at the gate. The Blackhawks Offical Fan Club – The Iron Legion will be there to cheer the Home team on to victory. T-shirts will be available for sale and the Blackhawks players will be throwing out mini-soccer balls at the end of the game. The crowd is inivited to join the players for autographs and a post-game get-together at Jeffrey’s Sports Bar & Grill on Jones Bridge Road. Game will be played rain or shine.
