The Atlanta Blackhawks traveled to Nashville this past weekend for a match-up against the Nashville Metros. Their previous encounter ended in a defeat for the Blackhawks and the Blackhawks were determined to keep that from happening again. It was intense play on a tough field, with strong plays by both teams but the Blackhawks held it together and clinched a 1-0 win!
The first half saw both teams frustrated by numerous scoring opportunities that failed to hit their mark. Strong performances by Blackhawks Defenders Kyle Timm, Matt Hoskins, Troy Cole and Sam Arthur kept the Metros frustrated as the teams went into half-time with a 0-0 score.
The Blackhawks came out strong the second half and in the 55th minute saw Wilfrid Loizeau score on a cross by Boubacar “BK” Toure. The Blackhawks held the lead despite the Metros constant frenetic attempts to score. Blackhawks Keeper Carl Woszczynski’s one-on-one match-ups with the Metros Scott Davidson left little doubt that the Blackhawks were not going to let him score.
The Blackhawks are back at home on Thursday, June 11th for a re-match against the Panama City Pirates who they defeated two weeks ago with a hat-trick by Blackhawks Forward Long Tan. Kick-off is 7:00 pm at Alpharetta High School and will feature the National Anthem sung by local recording artist Christina Isabella!
