Rochester Thunder Readies for Inaugural Home Match

Rochester, MN – Premier Development League expansion franchise, Rochester Thunder, will host its first-ever home match on Friday, May 15 at 7:00 pm. The match will take place at the stadium at Rochester Technical and Community College in Rochester, Minnesota.

The Thunder will take on the Real Colorado Foxes. The Foxes enter the match 2-0, having swept a series last weekend with the Kansas City Brass. The Thunder, meanwhile, head into their first home match at 0-2 after a pair of 2-1 road defeats last weekend to the Des Moines Menace and St. Louis Lions, respectively.

Despite the two early losses, the Thunder are already being labeled as a tough expansion team to face. They pushed both Des Moines and St. Louis, two successful and established clubs, in their first two matches of the season, even though the Thunder had only three practices before their first road trip and are still missing a number of players slotted for their roster.

“After having only three training sessions, I was happy with the way we played this past weekend,” said Thunder head coach Neil Cassidy. “We were very competitive in both games and showed that we can compete with some of the better teams in the PDL.”
Cassidy also realizes that there is more work to be done. “Tactically, we need to tighten up defensively and make the most of our opportunities in the attacking third,” he said.

They’ll have an opportunity to put their work to the test Friday night in Rochester.
