San Antonio FC scored two second-half goals to earn a 3-3 draw with the New England Revolution at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson on Saturday. A penalty kick from an SAFC trialist and a brace from forward Ever Guzman helped complete the comeback against the Revs.

“The guys worked extremely hard from the first to the last whistle,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “They showed some brave moments to be responsible for the ball. We learned from the first half going into the second, and all in all I think the squad has done a tremendous job all week.”

SAFC opened the scoring in the six-goal thriller after Jose Escalante was fouled in the opposing penalty area. An SAFC midfield trialist stepped up and scored the penalty to give SAFC a 1-0 lead. New England finished the first half on a strong note, scoring three unanswered goals, including two in the last ten minutes of the first 45. Down 3-1 to start the second half, San Antonio impressed after the break and pulled the game within one goal after a trialist played a through ball to Guzman who calmly rounded the Revolution keeper before passing it in the net. Like déjà vu, just two minutes later the same trialist found Guzman with a pass from the left-hand side and the Mexican found the bottom corner to level the score and eventually earn the draw for SAFC.

The club returns to San Antonio on Sunday following a week in Arizona. SAFC will host UT RGV and St. Edwards University in two split-squad matches next Saturday at Toyota Field, prior to hosting rivals RGVFC on March 2.
