CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Battery announced on Thursday the club had re-signed veteran Cuban goalkeeper Odisnel Cooper for the 2018 season, pending league and federation approval.

Cooper returns in 2018 for his sixth season with the Battery. The 25-year-old goalkeeper is currently eighth all-time in USL appearances for the Battery, having recorded 109 since arriving at the club prior to the 2013 season, six behind Battery Head Coach Mike Anhaeuser.

Cooper made 24 starts and recorded 10 shutouts in the 2017 season, continuing his stellar play for Charleston that has previously seen him earn USL All-League Second Team honors in 2015. Cooper has recorded 37 shutouts in his 109 appearances for the Battery and has recorded a save percentage above 70 percent each of the past four seasons.

Prior to joining the Battery, Cooper played for his hometown club, FC Camaguey from 2010 to 2012. Cooper made seven appearances for the Cuban national team before defecting to the United States in 2012.
