PHOENIX (February 14, 2018) — Phoenix Rising FC finished its second preseason match of the season, battling with Major League Soccer Club Colorado Rapids before falling, 2-0.

Phoenix Rising’s two best opportunities in the first half came from forward Billy Forbes. In the 37th minute, Forbes took on his defender one-on-one down the left side of the box. He created enough space to fire a shot toward the target but the ball went over the crossbar.

Three minutes later, Forbes was in a nearly identical situation, making life difficult for his defender. He unleashed another shot toward goal, but this time the ball went just wide of the net and both teams went into the half tied 0-0.

The match remained scoreless for much of the second half. The biggest save of the evening came just after the hour mark. A Rapids attacker managed to get a shot off in traffic, but goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski used all of his 6-5 frame to dive to his right and pushed the ball away to keep it 0-0.

But the Rapids attack eventually broke through. Forward Dominique Badji scored a header in the 75th minute. His teammate, Tommy Smith, found the back of the net five minutes later in the 80th minute.

Phoenix Rising FC finishes its home leg of the Mobile Mini Sun Cup on February 17, where they will play Major League Soccer team Sporting Kansas City at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.PHXRisingFC.com.
