HARRISBURG, Pa. – Penn FC announced on Wednesday the signing of Calvin Rezende for the 2018 season, pending league and federation approval.

Rezende comes to Central Pennsylvania after competing for the past two seasons with Miami FC. The 25-year old midfielder had a successful stint with the Florida squad, logging 1,436 minutes in 26 appearances over the two-year span. He left Miami FC with an impressive 90 percent passing accuracy-rate in 2017.

Before signing with Miami, Rezende shone for the Premier Development League's Michigan Bucks, where he earned All-Central Conference honors after leading the league with 11 assists.

PHOENIX SIGNS LOCAL STANDOUT: Phoenix Rising FC announced it had signed midfielder Evan Waldrep, as the former U.S. U20 international turned professional with his hometown club.

Waldrep won three Arizona state cups while playing with the CCV Stars youth soccer program. He began his college career at Creighton University, playing two seasons for the Bluejays before transferring to Grand Canyon University. Waldrep also spent a season playing with Premier Development League's FC Tucson prior to coming to GCU.

Internationally, Waldrep represented the United States at the U16, U18, and U20 levels.

SERRANO, USMAN JOIN S2: Seattle Sounders FC 2 announced that it has signed midfielder Ray Serrano and defender Ibrahim Usman. Serrano becomes the latest Sounders FC Academy player to sign directly with S2, joining Sam Rogers, Azriel Gonzalez and Shandon Hopeau. Usman, an 18-year-old left back and Nigerian U20 National Team pool player, joins S2 pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

Serrano has 17 goals and six assists in 17 games for the Sounders FC Academy U17s this season, including a hat trick against Barca Academy AZ and a pair of assists against Portland. The Sounders FC U17 squad currently sits atop the USSDA Northwest Division with a 15-1-2 record this season.

Usman comes to Seattle from Nigerian club Eco FC. The speedy, attacking-minded left back is also part of the Nigerian U20 National Team pool currently preparing for the U20 African Cup of Nations in 2019.

RED BULLS II ADD DUO: The New York Red Bulls II have signed midfielder Steven Echevarria and defender Wahab Ackwei to USL contracts, pending league and federation approval.

A former member of the Red Bulls Academy, Echevarria signs with NYRB II after a four-year career at Wake Forest that saw him make 79 appearances for the Demon Deacons, totaling seven goals and six assists. Echevarria also featured for the Red Bulls U23 in the Premier Development League, where he made 11 appearances over two seasons.

“It's such a great feeling to coach a player starting at the U14 level and see him turn pro with the club,” NYRB II Head Coach John Wolyniec said. “Steven has strengths that really fit what we do and is a model of hard work and dedication that will translate onto the pitch.”

Ackwei, a native of Accra, Ghana, joins NYRB II on a free transfer from Inter Allies FC in the Ghanaian Premier League.

“Wahab brings a unique skillset that we feel can adapt to how we play,” said Wolyniec. “We look forward to helping him integrate within the team as he continues his development here with us.”
