HARRISBURG, Pa. – Penn FC  announced on Tuesday it had signed experienced midfielder Dan Metzger for the 2018 USL season, pending league and federation approval. A 2016 USL Cup champion with the New York Red Bulls, Metzger joins Jorge Rivera as a new addition to Penn FC’s midfield.

Metzger helped the Red Bulls II reach the USL Cup Playoffs in each of his first three seasons at the club, making 66 appearances over that span. Metzger scored three goals in the Red Bulls II’s USL Cup-winning campaign, playing a key role throughout the postseason two seasons ago. He made his MLS debut for the club last July against the New England Revolution.

A former member of the U.S. U23 Men’s National Team, Metzger was originally drafted by D.C. United in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft following a career at the University of Maryland that saw him earn All-ACC First Team honors in 2013 and All-Big Ten First Team honors in 2014. Metzger and his teammates made the NCAA tournament all four years and finished as the National Runner-Up in 2013. The team collected the ACC Championship in 2012 and 2013 before winning the Big Ten Championship in 2014.
