HERRIMAN, Utah – Real Monarchs SLC announced on Monday it had acquired midfielder Masta Kacher from Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC for the 2018 season. Kacher’s signing is pending the approval of his P-1 Visa, and league and federation approval.

“It feels great to be here in Utah. I’ve been here just a few days and the organization and coaching staff have already made me feel so welcome,” Kacher said. “Last year the Monarchs were champions and every time I played against the Monarchs in the past, I wanted to do well. Now I’m here and looking forward to the challenge and playing for such a great club.”

Kacher has spent three seasons in the USL and recorded two goals in 36 appearances for FC Montreal across the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The 22-year-old joined the Switchbacks last offseason and had a breakout season where he recorded seven goals and seven assists while starting all 32 contests in the regular season. Kacher featured on the USL Team of the Week on four occasions last season and his goal against the Monarchs on April 15 was a USL Goal of the Year finalist.

“Masta is a guy that we’ve been after for a long time,” said Monarchs Assistant General Manager Dan Egner. “He’s been in the league for three years, even though he’s only 22 years old. At Colorado Springs he started every match in 2017 and really came into himself. He is lethal and cuts in from the left side and before you know it, you’re picking the ball out of the back of the net. He plays the style of football that we like and he’s going to fit right in with this group.”

Kacher will join the Monarchs for preseason in Herriman to prepare for the club’s regular-season title defense during the club’s fourth season.
