COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Monday it had re-signed forward A.J. Ajeakwa, pending league and federation approval.

Ajeakwa returns to the Switchbacks for the 2018 after joining the club in early September from San Antonio. Ajeawka scored as a substitute in his first match for the club against Phoenix Rising FC and went on to start in the Switchbacks’ final five matches of the 2018 campaign, playing all but 12 minutes of those matches.

The 25-year-old California native will enter his third full season in the USL in 2018, having scored three goals in 15 appearances for San Antonio FC prior to joining the Switchbacks a year ago. Ajeakwa had previously played for Orange County SC in the 2016 season, where he recorded one goal and one assist in 26 appearances.

ORANGE COUNTY ADDS DANISH STRIKER: Orange County SC welcomed former Danish international Thomas Enevoldsen to its squad on Saturday, with the signing pending league and federation approval and receipt of the player’s P-1 visa. Enevoldsen joins Orange County from NAC Breda of the Dutch Eredivisie having scored one goal in 12 appearances this season.

Enevoldsen has over 270 appearances to his name in the top divisions in Denmark, Belgium and Holland, including 11 appearances for the Danish national team, where he made his full international debut for Denmark against Hungary during 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Following helping his nation qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, he then started in their first match of the FIFA 2010 World Cup against Holland. He recorded his only national team goal against Senegal in 2010.

“Thomas is a highly experienced European player who represented Denmark in the World Cup,” said Orange County SC General Manager & Executive Vice President Oliver Wyss. “He is a prolific finisher and his goals will certainly entertain our fans this season.”

RANGERS SIGN ACADEMY STANDOUT: The Swope Park Rangers have signed former Sporting KC Academy standout Camilo Benitez to his first professional contract, bringing the attacking midfield into the squad for the new season.

“The Academy has been doing a great job and we have a lot of talent coming through,” said Rangers Head Coach Paulo Nagamura said. “Camilo is a very good attacking player that we can use this upcoming season. He’s been doing well for us in preseason and I think he’ll be a good offensive piece for us.”

A native of Ibarra, Ecuador, Benitez has spent significant time training with the Rangers over the past year. The 18-year-old has made 11 appearances for the Sporting KC U19s this season, scoring three goals. In the 2016-17 campaign, Benitez played in 27 games and tallied five times for the U18s.
