ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Rowdies announced on Thursday the club had acquired attacking midfielder Jack Blake on a season-long loan from Jacksonville Armada FC. Per club policy, further contract details were not disclosed. The signing is pending league and federation approval.
“I'm so excited to be joining the Rowdies,” said Blake. “It is an honor and privilege to get the opportunity to put on the green and gold. I can't wait to play in front of all the amazing Tampa Bay Rowdies fans and go into battle with my teammates to make 2018 a year to remember.”
Blake recorded nine goals and four assists for the Armada in the 2017 season, a breakout year that saw him named the league’s Player of the Month in August and Young Player of the Year. A former player for Minnesota United FC, which he joined prior to the 2015 season, Blake is a product of English club Nottingham Forest’s academy system.
“We’re delighted to add Jack to our 2018 roster,” said Rowdies Head Coach Stuart Campbell. “He had a fantastic season in 2017 and has proven to be very dangerous in the attacking third.”
The Rowdies will open their preseason schedule this Saturday as they face fellow USL club FC Cincinnati at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
