IRVINE, Calif. (February 7, 2018) – Orange County Soccer Club announced Los Angeles native defender Oscar Sorto will rejoin the club for the 2018 USL season, pending league and federation approval.  A pillar for Orange County SC in 2017, Sorto made 28 appearances for the club, including 27 starts.  The talented full back led the club with 91 clearances.     

“We are very pleased to have Oscar returning for his second season with Orange County,” said Orange County SC Head Coach Braeden Cloutier.  “Oscar has qualities that fit the profile for what we are looking for in a right-sided defender.  With the right guidance and consistency, Oscar has the ability to succeed at the next level.”

Sorto joined the club as a free agent in 2017 after a 7-year stint with the LA Galaxy.  He began his youth career as part of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy playing for the Pateadores and LA Galaxy.  Signed as a homegrown player, Sorto was the first defender to be signed directly from the LA Galaxy Academy U-18 team.  He made his professional debut for the LA Galaxy in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2013 and appeared for the U.S. U-20 National Team in the 2013 Toulon Tournament.   Sorto was named to the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey and was later called up to the senior U.S. Men’s National Team in 2014.  In 2015, Sorto was called up by the U.S. U-23 Men’s National Team for the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
