Former Rowdies assistant to lead club into new era

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Penn FC announced on Wednesday it had hired former Tampa Rowdies Assistant Coach Raoul Voss as the club’s new Head Coach.

“Becoming the first Penn FC head coach is a tremendous honor for me,” said Voss. “I am really looking forward to this opportunity. The goal for this upcoming season is to connect all these different pieces and facets of the club, unite them, and ultimately be a part of creating the identity of Penn FC.”

A native of Germany, Voss worked on the technical staffs of both TSG Hoffenheim and Concordia Hamburg after beginning his U.S. playing and coaching career at Florida International University in Miami. Voss recently served as an assistant coach for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and Tampa Bay Rowdies, and now will step into a professional head coaching position for the first time.

Voss joins a unique organization in Penn FC, which champions a focus on player development and using a global network of professional and academy players to ultimately feed the Penn FC system. Majority owner George Altirs and his company Capelli Sport, along with Penn FC affiliate Rush Soccer – which currently oversees 85 amateur clubs in the U.S. and abroad – will be crucial in helping Voss grow the club and improve the quality of professional soccer in Central Pennsylvania.

“So far it has been wonderful working together,” said Voss. “It is a very unique set up with huge potential. This is fantastic for me as a coach and the opportunities we will have together as one club are wonderful. Just thinking about talent development, creating a unique club culture, knowledge exchange, paths for the players, and a vast scouting network... the sky is really the limit here.”
