Midfielder ruled out between four-to-six months after training injury

BRADENTON, Fla. – FC Cincinnati announced on Tuesday offseason addition Tyler Gibson had been ruled out for four-to-six months due to a fractured fibula suffered during training on Sunday.

Gibson will undergo surgery in Florida and remain with the team. The 27-year-old midfielder had signed with FC Cincinnati in November having last season helped lead the San Francisco Deltas to a championship.

“Tyler’s injury is bitterly disappointing. He has come in and made a major impact on our team on and off the pitch,” said FCC Head Coach Alan Koch. “His professionalism, work-rate and ability have been evident every day of preseason. We support him completely in his recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch as soon as possible. The team will rise together even more in his absence.”

FC Cincinnati opens its preseason schedule on Tuesday afternoon as it faces the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer at 3:30 p.m. ET.
